Class Descriptions

When My Village Learning Center began, the classes were all regligiously neutral, however, several parents were asking for faith-based classes. And so began My Village Christian Learning Center. On Wednesdays My Village Christian Learning Center offers Bible classes in every grade level as well as classes that are taught from a Christian Perspective.


Class Description

Primary A: Kindergarten Level Classroom

(Age 5 by the beginning of the academic year)

Curriculum

Language Arts: A combination of Five in a Row (FIAR), a literature-based homeschool curriculum

Science: Little Scientists (Hands on Activities) Unit Studies: "Changing Seasons" and "Bubbles"


Primary B


Primary B: 1st Grade Level

(Age 6 by the beginning of the school year)

Wednesdays available through My Village Christian Learning Center which includes Bible class, Story Art, Language Arts and Community Helpers

Curriculum

Language Arts: Five in a Row (FIAR), a literature-based curriculum. This block also includes writing and phonics

Science: Unit Studies from Unit Scientists Curriculum (Hands-on-Activities), "Learning About the Way Things Move" and "Light and Color"

Engineering: Including, but not limited to LEGO Engineering.

Recess/Centers: Due to the afternoon heat and showers, the class will divide the last block between Center and Recess

Curriculum/Description

Sports: We alternate a variety of sports such as soccer, basketball, hula-hooping, and jump rope to name a few.

Group Games: Students spend time socializing and playing board games or outside (weather permitting).


Wednesday

Drama: In this class, students will learn about puppets, acting, and confidence. This class will prepare students for public speaking and give them the confidence to get up in front of an audience. They will play games, create puppet shows and act out short skits.

Animal and Nature Studies: In this class, students will learn about Zoology, which is the study of animals of all shapes and sizes, from tiny insects to large mammals. Zoologists investigate what animals eat and how they live, and how animals interact with their habitats. Students will also explore topics such as conservation, interdependence and biodiversity.

Geography: Study of the Earth’s physical features and environment including the impact of human activity on these factors and vice versa.

Curriculum/Descriptions

Group Games: Students spend time socializing and playing board games or playing group games outside (weather permitting).

Geography: Study of the Earth’s physical features and environment including the impact of human activity on these factors and vice versa.

Animal and Nature Studies: In this class, students will learn about Zoology, which is the study of animals of all shapes and sizes, from tiny insects to large mammals. Zoologists investigate what animals eat and how they live, and how animals interact with their habitats. Students will also explore topics such as conservation, interdependence and biodiversity.

Unit Studies: Gather 'Around curriculum (Christian-based) covers multiple subjects by unit. 

Bible: Students will study many topics such as the fruit of the Spirit, Christian heroes and role models and the unconditional nature of God’s love. There will be object lessons, group discussions, skits, crafts, and memory verses.
